Description
Description
The Northwood Longreach™ Long Seax Knife is a handcrafted, historically inspired fixed-blade design built around an extended broken-back profile, natural walnut handle, brass fittings, and a hand-sewn leather scabbard.
Measuring approximately 23 inches overall, it features an 18.3-inch blade made from 1040 carbon steel. Its long blade profile, angled spine toward the point, and walnut-and-brass handle combination create a distinctive traditional appearance for collectors and outdoor knife enthusiasts.
Each piece is individually hand-finished. Natural variation in the walnut grain, leather color, and blade finish is normal.
Designed Around the Long Seax Profile
The Northwood Longreach™ follows the proportions associated with a long seax, using a broken-back blade profile with a defined angled transition near the point. This creates a bold silhouette that differs from a straight-back knife profile.
Its extended size and traditional material combination make it a strong addition to a historical knife collection, display collection, or outdoor gear collection.
Blade Details
The blade is made from 1040 carbon steel and measures approximately 18.3 inches long with a blade width of approximately 1.5 inches.
1040 carbon steel offers a traditional appearance and can be maintained with regular cleaning and oiling. The blade has a specified hardness of approximately 58–60 HRC.
Carbon steel requires regular care. Keep the blade clean and dry after handling, and apply a thin coat of knife-safe oil before longer storage.
Walnut Handle and Brass Fittings
The handle is crafted from natural walnut wood, selected for its dark grain, warm color, and traditional character.
Brass accents and double bolsters provide contrast between the walnut handle and carbon-steel blade. Jimping along the spine adds an additional hand-finished detail.
Because natural walnut is used, every handle will show its own grain pattern and slight color variation.
Hand-Sewn Leather Scabbard
A hand-sewn leather scabbard is included with the Northwood Longreach™ Long Seax Knife.
The scabbard helps protect the blade during storage and transport. Before placing the knife inside, always make sure the carbon-steel blade is clean and completely dry. Leather can retain moisture, so the knife should not be stored wet inside the scabbard.
